Introducing Enhanced HEVC Support and Performance Upgrades for Seamless Video Streaming

We are thrilled to announce our ongoing efforts to enhance our ffmpeg libraries and API calls, aiming to provide much better support for HEVC codecs. Our developers are diligently working on these updates and have already resolved problems with our support for Reolink and other cameras that were previously plagued by 'bitstream' errors and video recording issues.

You can see these changes on GitHub (https://github.com/bluecherrydvr/bluecherry-apps/tree/new_api)

We expect these enhancements to be ready for testing in the next two weeks.  These upgraded libraries address several well-known challenges and introduce a range of improvements, including:

  1. Seamless Resolution Handling: We have successfully resolved interlacing problems associated with IP cameras, particularly with higher resolution streams. This ensures a smooth and consistent viewing experience.
  2. Intelligent Transport Selection: We are introducing a new 'auto' transport option that intelligently determines the optimal choice between UDP (preferred) and TCP for the stream. This dynamic selection ensures reliable and efficient transmission based on the network conditions.
  3. Elimination of 'Gray' Screens: We are pleased to inform you that our updated libraries eliminate the occurrence of random 'gray' screens that occasionally disrupted live views. Now you can enjoy uninterrupted and live video streaming.
  4. Enhanced Network Performance: Our latest improvements bring substantial enhancements to network performance during video streaming. You can expect a significant boost in streaming quality, with smoother playback and reduced latency.

These updates exemplify our commitment to providing a seamless and enhanced experience for our users. We remain dedicated to continuously improving our technologies to meet the evolving needs of our valued customers.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates and enhancements as we strive to deliver cutting-edge solutions that empower your video streaming capabilities.
